Coronation
Were you living in Gloucestershire at the time of the Coronation? Or perhaps have you been told about the great day by parents and grandparents? The Everyman Theatre Reach Out team has been out and about in the county gathering reminiscences of this event and this is the dramatised version of what you, the people, remember. It's all there, the street parties, the new fangled TV's with their nine inch screens, the crowd-stopping Queen Salote of Tonga. A small cast aided by an extensive wardrobe and some very quick on changes, took us from scenes of Forest life to a madam shop where local bigwigs were having their Coronation finery fitted. Marie-Louise Flexen was not only responsible for the choreography but also danced herself in the role of the tremulous princess, so soon to be our Queen.
